Search "GTA 6 gameplay" and you get a wall of thumbnails promising a full walkthrough. Almost none of it is what it claims to be. This page does the boring, useful thing instead: it states plainly what official Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay footage actually exists, what does not, and where the line sits between Rockstar's in-engine material and the leaked or faked clips flooding the search results.
The short version: Rockstar has not released a standalone gameplay trailer. A dedicated gameplay reveal, the kind GTA 5 got, has not happened as of now.
What counts as official footage
The only footage Rockstar has actually put out is in the two official trailers, both of which you can watch in the Trailer Vault on the homepage. Those trailers contain in-engine material, the world rendered in GTA 6's actual engine, but Rockstar has not labelled specific shots as captured gameplay Gameplay-vs-cutscene split: community analysis, unverified. That distinction matters. "In-engine" is not the same promise as "this is what a controller in your hands looks like".
So the honest catalogue of official gameplay-relevant material is:
- Trailer 1 (4 December 2023) Confirmed, in-engine world footage, no labelled gameplay capture.
- Trailer 2 (May 2025) Confirmed, more of Leonida, again in-engine, again not labelled as gameplay capture.
That is the entire body of official footage. Everything else is either a trailer reupload, an analysis video, or something pretending to be more than it is.

What does NOT exist (yet)
Things people assume have been shown but have not:
- A dedicated gameplay reveal trailer. Not released.
- Hands-on previews. No press or creators have published sanctioned hands-on GTA 6 gameplay.
- An official feature deep-dive. Mechanics like the wanted system, shooting or driving have not been demonstrated by Rockstar in a gameplay setting.
Any video claiming to show these is, by definition, not official.
The leaked footage, kept in its box
There is exactly one genuinely leaked source of GTA 6 in-game material: the September 2022 development-build footage that surfaced after a security breach Leak, real but obsolete. - It promises a full walkthrough. Rockstar has not released one, so neither has anyone else.
- It uses upscaled trailer shots stitched with a fake HUD overlaid on top.
- The "gameplay" is modded GTA 5 dressed up with a Vice City filter.
- The channel has no track record and the title leans hard on "LEAKED" and "EXCLUSIVE".

When real gameplay drops
