Privacy policy

Most privacy policies list legal categories. This one follows a single visit to gta6yt.com from the first request to the moment you press play on a trailer, and says at each step what leaves your browser, who receives it and how to stop it.

Controller: Media Digital Business L.L.C.-FZ, Meydan Grandstand, 6th floor, Meydan Road, Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Privacy contact: [email protected].

gta6yt.com is an independent fan site about Grand Theft Auto VI videos. It has no user accounts, no comments, no newsletter and no contact form, so the only personal data involved is the technical data described below and anything you choose to send us by email.

Step 1: your browser requests a page

The site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and security layer. To deliver the page, Cloudflare necessarily processes your IP address, the address you requested, your browser's user-agent string and the time of the request, and it may use that data to filter attacks and abusive traffic. We do not receive a list of individual visitors from Cloudflare; we see aggregated traffic figures. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website. Cloudflare's own terms: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

Fonts are served from our own domain, so no font request goes to Google Fonts or any other font host.

On a first visit a banner offers Accept all or Essential only. Before you click anything, Google Consent Mode v2 is set so that ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage are all denied. Your answer is saved in your browser's localStorage under the key g6_consent, so the banner does not ask again on every page. To change your mind, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the banner returns.

Step 3: Google Analytics 4 measures the visit

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-57DGVD71F4) to see which pages and videos people read, so we know which trailer pages need work. If you chose Essential only, Analytics runs without cookies and Google receives only cookieless, consent-denied signals that we cannot use to recognise you. If you chose Accept all, Analytics may set its own first-party cookies (such as _ga) to tell repeat visits apart. We do not send names, emails or other identifiers to Analytics. Google's description: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Step 4: ads load through Google AdSense

The site is paid for by advertising from Google AdSense. The AdSense script loads on every page, and what it may do depends on your Step 2 answer:

  • Essential only: no advertising cookies are stored and ads are limited to non-personalised ones. Google may still use cookies or similar technologies for fraud prevention and frequency capping where the law allows.
  • Accept all: Google and its partners may use cookies to personalise ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. You can switch off personalised advertising for your Google account at https://adssettings.google.com, and opt out of many third-party vendors at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or, in Europe, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/. How Google uses data from partner sites: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Step 5: you open the Trailer Vault

The homepage holds the Trailer Vault, a set of official Rockstar Games videos hosted on YouTube. Two separate things happen here:

  • Thumbnails. To show a cover image for each tape, your browser loads the preview picture from YouTube's image server (i.ytimg.com). That request reveals your IP address and browser details to Google, but no video player is loaded yet.
  • Playing a video. The YouTube player is only inserted when you click Play. We use the privacy-enhanced domain youtube-nocookie.com, which according to Google does not store YouTube cookies before playback starts. Once the video plays, YouTube (Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd) processes your viewing under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. If you would rather not involve YouTube at all, use the "Watch on Rockstar's official channel" link instead, which simply opens the video on youtube.com.

Your Watched ticks in the Vault are saved only in your own browser under the localStorage key yt_watched_v1. They never reach our server. The release countdown is calculated in your browser and stores nothing.

Step 6: remembering your language

When you switch language, the choice is stored in localStorage (g6_lang) and in a first-party cookie called lang_choice, which expires after one year. It exists only so the site opens in the same language next time.

How long data is kept

Data Where Retention
g6_consent, g6_lang, yt_watched_v1 your browser until you clear site data
lang_choice cookie your browser 12 months
Google Analytics event data Google no longer than 14 months, the maximum GA4 allows
AdSense cookies your browser / Google set by Google, see Google's policy
Cloudflare request data Cloudflare short-term security and operations logs under Cloudflare's policy
Emails you send us our mailbox as long as needed to handle the request, then deleted, usually within 12 months

International transfers

Google and Cloudflare process data in the United States and other countries. They rely on mechanisms such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for transfers out of the EEA and UK.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, data protection law gives you rights over your personal data. Under the EU GDPR and UK GDPR you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, object to processing based on legitimate interest (including advertising profiling), and withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising; choosing Essential only and using the Google ad settings link above has that effect on this site. We do not sell personal data for money.

Send any request to [email protected]. We answer within 30 days and may ask for enough information to locate the data, which in practice is mostly limited to emails you have sent us.

Children

The site covers a game rated Mature (17+) by the ESRB and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we add a new tool that touches your data, for example a different video host, this page changes first and the date below moves.
