Half the magic of a GTA 6 trailer is the needle-drop. Rockstar has always used music to set the decade, the mood and the place, and the official trailers are no exception. This page identifies every song used in the official Grand Theft Auto VI trailers, keeps confirmed trailer tracks separate from rumoured soundtrack wishlists, and lists the radio stations Rockstar has actually revealed.

Trailer 1 song (4 December 2023)
The reveal trailer's needle-drop is its emotional spine:
- Tom Petty, "Love Is a Long Road" Confirmed, the only featured track in the first trailer, running under the sun-bleached tour of Vice City and Leonida. It is also why fans went hunting for the "Petty Forever" sticker covered on the trailer breakdown page.
That is the whole confirmed tracklist for Trailer 1: one song, used the whole way through.
Trailer 2 songs (6 May 2025)
The second trailer is busier, with a lead track plus radio-style snippets layered into scenes:
- The Pointer Sisters, "Hot Together" Confirmed, the trailer's signature needle-drop and the only song credited in Rockstar's YouTube description.
- Background radio snippets woven into some scenes. Fans have put names to several of them, but Rockstar credits none, so treat those IDs as Fan ID, unverified. An earlier version of this page named a Wang Chung cut as confirmed; Rockstar's credits do not support that, so we removed it.
The mix of a hero track plus in-world radio is classic Rockstar trailer construction: one song to carry the emotion, fragments of others to sell the world's radio culture.
Launch Trailer song (15 October 2026)
- Justice feat. Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, "Flower in a Hurricane" Confirmed. The 90-second Launch Trailer debuted it. Rockstar's description calls Justice the composers of the game's original score and says the song is a standalone Justice single that also appears on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
An Extended Look (27 August 2026) is a 27-minute piece built mostly from in-game scenes; Rockstar did not publish a song list for it, so we do not attribute tracks to it.
Confirmed soundtrack vs wishlist
Here is where source discipline matters. Songs in a trailer are confirmed to be in that trailer. They are not automatically confirmed for the in-game radio. And a track being on someone's "GTA 6 soundtrack" list usually means nothing more than that a fan wants it there.
- Radio stations revealed by Rockstar (8 October 2026): Flash FM (pop, hosted by Robyn and Alex Consani), Cocoteo FM (modern Latin, Bad Bunny and RaiNao), AfroBank FM (Burna Boy and Palms Trax), The Chamber 106.6 (metal, Kerry King and Tom Araya), Dirty South Classics (Trick Daddy and Trina) and Back Country Radio (country). - V-Rock: for a long time fan sites called V-Rock "confirmed" because a V-Rock shirt appears in official material. It was not in the six stations listed on 8 October; some outlets report later additions, but we have not seen it on Rockstar's own pages, so we list it as Unverified.
- Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album: announced by Rockstar with Atlantic Records on 17 September 2026, 34 original tracks, out on 19 November 2026 alongside the game. Early singles include Travis Scott's "RHYNO" and Keith Richards' "Bright Lights, Big City". Confirmed
- Everything else, full station tracklists, leaked song lists, artists "confirmed" for radio without a Rockstar post, is Leak / rumour, unverified.

Why these songs, and why they work
Tom Petty's road-weary Americana under the reveal sells the bittersweet, sun-and-rust tone of Leonida. The Pointer Sisters' brighter, dance-floor energy in Trailer 2 leans into Vice City's nightlife. Both choices do what Rockstar trailer music always does: they place you in a specific, slightly faded slice of Florida culture before a single mission is explained.
What the Launch Trailer song told us
The third trailer proved the point of this section: Justice's "Flower in a Hurricane" signalled a slicker, more modern tone than the Petty and Pointer Sisters picks before a single frame was parsed.
