Rockstar has confirmed it: Grand Theft Auto VI launches 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. The live countdown above ticks down to that exact date. This is one of the few hard, Rockstar-confirmed facts in the entire GTA 6 conversation, and the whole point of this page is to keep it clean of the rumours that cling to everything else.
While you wait, the Trailer Vault on the homepage collects every official Rockstar video, up to the 15 October 2026 Launch Trailer, so the countdown comes with something to actually watch.
The confirmed launch
The facts that carry this page, all sourced to Rockstar's own Newswire:
Release date: 19 November 2026 Confirmed.
Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S Confirmed.
An earlier window was officially moved. Rockstar had pointed at a May 2026 window, then officially moved the launch to 19 November 2026 Confirmed.
Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026 at midnight local time. In the US the standard edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99. Confirmed
Pre-loading starts 12 November 2026 for digital copies. Boxed copies contain a download code rather than a game disc and go on sale the same day so they can pre-load too. Confirmed
Pre-order bonus: digital pre-orders and purchases made before 20 November 2026 include the Vintage Vice City Pack, and digital orders add a free month of GTA+. Confirmed
That third point about the moved window is exactly why we do not trust unconfirmed dates anywhere on this site: even Rockstar's own dates can move, so a leaker's date is worth even less.
The date that moved (and why it matters)
The shift from a May 2026 window to 19 November 2026 is the single best lesson in GTA 6 source discipline. A date that came directly from Rockstar still changed. So when you see a confident "GTA 6 delayed to 2027" or "moved up to summer" post with no Newswire behind it, treat it as Leak / rumour, unverified. The countdown on this page only ever points at Rockstar's current official date, and it updates if, and only if, Rockstar moves it.
The PC question
This is the most common follow-up, and the honest answer is short: no PC release date has been announced PC timing: unconfirmed. Rockstar has confirmed PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, and has not committed to a PC launch window.
People reasonably expect a PC version eventually, and they point to precedent: GTA 5 launched on consoles first and came to PC later. That precedent is context, not a promise. It tells you a PC version is plausible; it does not give you a date, and we will not invent one. For the confirmed-platform detail and pre-order guidance, see the PS5 and Xbox page.
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
Rockstar has confirmed the date, not a worldwide unlock time. Store listings and several outlets point to a midnight local-time rollout, but that is store data, not a Rockstar statement, so we label it Unlock time: not officially published. The same goes for the download size: as of 25 October 2026 neither Rockstar nor Sony or Microsoft has listed an official install size, and the 150 to 300 GB figures in circulation are estimates.
How the countdown works
The widget at the top counts down in real time to 19 November 2026. It runs entirely in your browser, no login, no tracking, and it is tied to the one date Rockstar has confirmed. If Rockstar announces a change, this page changes with it. No rumour will ever move the clock.
